THE CIRCUS WAGON
Trips, adventures & the things we don't want to forget.
Field Notes & Journal Entries
Latest Chronicles
Real voyages, remote coastlines, and unvarnished notes from the road.
You're going there?! Okay, you HAVE to…
Whenever friends tell us where they are traveling next, this is what we scribble down. A vetted notebook of quiet coves, seaside tavernas, humble stays, and sunrise ridges we have visited ourselves and stand behind completely.

Kleftiko Pirate Caves
Sail in early before the midday day-trippers arrive. Drop anchor on the sandy shelf at ten meters and swim through the white archways.

To Steki Taverna
Sit at the wooden tables right on the sand. Order the wood-fired chickpea stew and whatever morning catch was brought in that dawn.

Seceda Ridge Trail
Start at first light from the valley station. The mist rises through the jagged limestone spires right as the bells on the dairy cows echo.
Over fifty tested anchorages, hiking paths, and local meals documented across our journals.

We spend our seasons moving between sun-faded harbor docks and quiet mountain turnouts. Colby writes by hand and tracks down the best bakeries and hidden coves, while Jake shoots 35mm film, pilots the drone, and keeps our engines from sputtering out.
People often ask why we call this journal The Circus Wagon. Between our salt-stained rigging, two lively rescue dogs, and an unshakeable habit of packing our entire lives into tight quarters, our arrival usually looks like an eccentric traveling show pulling into town. We wouldn't have it any other way.

Quiet frames from quiet mornings, long passages at sea, and the landscapes we walked between anchorages.

Life under canvas
Before we bought the boat, our travels were bound to tarmac and dirt trails. The moment we rigged The Circus Wagon, the map opened up in every direction.
Living aboard taught us patience. You do not rush a passage; you adapt to tides, track cloud cover, and learn to appreciate the quiet calm that comes when the engine shuts off and the sails catch wind.
Offshore rhythm
Three-hour watches, salt on the rigging, and days measured by swell rather than hours.
The vessel
A cutter-rigged classic named The Circus Wagon, built to take whatever the open sea hands out.
Slow arrivals
Dropping hook in secluded coves where roads end and quiet begins.
Moving across the water
Jake packs a drone, a handheld rig, and a pair of vintage lenses into the wagon and onto the boat. These short films record the slow unfolding of a coastline, shifting morning swells, and the quiet miles between anchorages.
